Nekrosity - Void Gazer

NEKROSITY - Void Gazer (GROWLS FROM THE UNDERGROUND - CD 2019)

A nice horror theme, so very alike to the classic "Helloween" theme, opens this album and immediately sets up the proper mood. A mood for old school, rotten death metal. Here is Nekrosity with their debut album "Void Gazer". The band hails from Sweden and as such, they certainly bring a lot of traditional patterns, which often characterise the Swedish death metal. Chunky, vicious riffs, a bit of melodic parts, dark atmosphere... They are all here. On one hand they could bring you older bands to mind, like Interment and Vomitory, but also some younger generation of Swedish bands - Revolting / Paganizer (and other stuff from Rogga), Puteraeon... All in all, this is always a music I personally love to hear.

The songwriting on "Void Gazer" is definitely solid and band really did a great job. Actually, such death metal style really fits my preferences, so I like the riffage, that aggressive and brutal feel they create, but also how memorable a lot of that stuff seems. Nekrosity came up with great songs, the production is spot on, as it’s powerful and vicious, vocals are brilliant... I also like how dynamic the music is, with good proportions between fast, blasting stuff and mid paced parts. Occasionally a slow, doomy piece comes up, so there's really a lot of good and varied death metal to be heard. I especially enjoyed songs like "Nuclear Damnation" - this song is a real headbanger and has everything best Nekrosity can offer. Or "Strigoaică" with its epic finish, immediately resembling the one and only "Phantasm" them of "Left Hand Path". So... I am really looking for more from Nekrosity after this tasty debut album.

Standout tracks: “Insemination of the Forgotten”

Verdict: 80/100
