Exanimatvm - Dispersae et Tormentvm

EXANIMATVM - Dispersae et Tormentvm (DUNKELHEIT Productions - CD 2016)
Chilean bastardos from Exanimatvm are another proof that death metal scene in that country is among the best in the world. In my opinion at least. I love many bands from there and Exanimatvm are also highly appreciated kommando, who proved their worth with their debut (and so far only) album "Dispersae et Tormentvm". Their music has all the best characteristics for their native death metal sound - which means harsh, but very powerful and dark sound, brutal and vicious as hell riff style, with plenty of fast pace, but with occasional doomy, crushing slabs to absolutely smash everything on its way... Plus the obscure, evil atmosphere, which in case of "Dispersae et Tormentvm" is also highlighted by the lyrics written in their native language. If I now mention bands like Unaussprechlichen Kulten, Godless or Demonic Rage, to which I could compare Exanimatvm to, it will only be natural. Of course if you want to draw a longer line, then it will lead you to Incantation, Vital Remains, Imprecation, Funebrarum and other prime US death metal acts...
But let's leave it, you should all know what I mean and what Exanimatvm music is like. I can only add that "Dispersae et Tormentvm" is a fuckin beast. Great, chunky riffs, brutal as fuck, with a lot of great sounding sound, arrangements and feeling. When Exanimatvm speeds up, there's really no mercy and you could only pick up your teeth and dismembered limbs, so ferocious it all sounds. It's a great crushing wall of death metal noise, insanely intense and suffocating. In songs like "Exanimatvm" it's an absolutely masterpiece of this death metal and when Exanimatvm slows things down, it becomes even more crushing - a fuckin bulldozer. Oh sooo gooood! I always liked how Chilean vocalists sound. They growls - maybe because of the accent and language of the lyrics - sound very characteristic and give that evil character to the music. It’s the same here. Finally, I also really love some more melodic accents, thrown here and there, for instance in "La Apoteosis de Todos los Horrores", which is a great opening theme. "Dispersiones y tormento" is noteworthy for a crushing doomy starting part and also some more melodic parts and because of its diversity, it's the best song on the album for me.
So, I give it strong 80/100. I really dig this album a lot and cannot recommend it enough. "Dispersae et Tormentvm" was unleashed on Dunkelheit Produktionen, I know it’s still easily to be found, so do not waste time – grab this piece of filth!
Standout tracks: "Exanimatvm", "Dispersiones y tormento"
Verdict: 80/100
