HOLODOMOR - Témoignages de la Gnose Terrestre (Self release - CD 2012)
Holodomor is, if you don’t know that, a term for the historical event, which took place in Ukraine, it was a genocidal famine provoked by communist rulers of Ukrainian SRR in 1932- 1933. Nearly 10 millions have died of starvation. The music, which the Plymouth, UK based band plays is so intense and uncompromising that it seems like they just want to get as many people dead as that famine! This is absolutely massacring and fucking with no mercy bestial black / death metal and I can assure you that „Témoignages de la Gnose Terrestre” will be a perfect addition to the collection of those maniacs, who’re into such bands as Revenge, Angel Corpse, Bestial Warlust, Destruktor, Witchmaster and Throneum. Thick, merciless riffs, which are slashing like the sharpest razor, are played in furious tempos. It hardly ever slows down, as it’s focused mainly on fast and relentless drum cannonades and angry vocals – and, by the way, this style of screaming do remind me Tom of Throneum and Bastis from Witchmaster a lot… Add to that a raw and obscure, but somehow quite clear production and you’ll get all the values of this material.
Let’s be honest, Holodomor on „Témoignages de la Gnose Terrestre” is hardly a band, which could be called sophisticated and original, but no way it is their disadvantage. It’s actually the other way around as it’s just fuckin cool to listen to such extreme and cool band, which carries the hateful flag of bestial metal and plays music, which has probably more foes than allies. These five tracks are an essence of obscure black / death metal and I can swear that if you’re fans of the bands I mentioned above, then you’ll also like Holodomor a lot, especially if you’re fond of Throneum and the Australian scene then Holodomor will be in your taste in 666% and I can recommend them to you. No more is needed to be said, buy or die. And don’t let yourself be fooled by a wholly white colouring of the booklet of „Témoignages de la Gnose Terrestre”. This is damn dark as hell.
