Anatomia / Cryptic Brood - Infectious Decay

ANATOMIA / CRYPTIC BROOD - Infectious Decay (LYCANTHROPIC CHANTS - Split 7"EP 2018)
Another slimy, disgusting and obscure piece of doom death metal from Anatomia comes on the split 7" with Cryptic Brood, released by Lycanthropic Chants. "The Macabre" is a very characteristic song for this band, with its gruesome atmosphere and heavy, crushing sound. Their riffs always make me think about something hideous and monstrous, slowly crawling in the pitch-black darkness, with deep growls summoning the macabre gods and creating a bloodfreezing fear among the normal humans. This is the whole charm of Anatomia music and something I cannot pass by carelessly. They don't experiment, they don't try to walk away from their once taken path - but every time they put out a split, they introduce us to a killer song. "The Macabre" is also fantastic, in my opinion, and it really matches perfectly my imagination for how the best doom / death metal should sound like.
Germans from Cryptic Brood are also not strangers to me, I am a fan of their "Wormhead" EP and "Braineater" LP. Sadly, I did miss the opportunity to grab splits with Restos Humanos and Minenfeld, but it's good to hear them here on split with beasts from Anatomia. One song, titled "Beneath the Filthy Sewers", but again a killer dose of old school death / doom metal, which stinks of decomposed bodies and creates an abhorrent feeling among “normal” people. Musically it’s influenced straight by Autopsy, no doubt. I love the opening doomy theme a lot, as it sounds heavy and vicious as hell. In its second half "Beneath the Filthy Sewers" speeds up, with some slashing riffs and sick, possessed vomits... It’s short, but really great song, proving me that Cryptic Brood are one of the best death metal bands from Germany at the moment, along with the likes of Revel in Flesh, Slaughterday, Evoked and Scalpture. Really damn cool, sick stuff!
Verdict: 80/100
