Critical Extravasation - Morbid Existence

CRITICAL EXTRAVASATION - Morbid Existence (GROTESQUE SOUNDS Productions CD 2019)
Recently I got this debut EP from Russian band called Critical Extravasation and time came to check it out. The title is "Morbid Existence" and it contains four songs, of which one is a killer cover of Morgoth's "Body Count". For this cover alone this young band gets a positive word from me, because it is very well played and I just love "Cursed", so it's always a pleasure to hear something from it, even if it is a cover. Besides, I feel like Morgoth doesn't get enough credit nowadays for their excellent albums. So, it is cool to see such a young band paying tribute to them.
The other three songs are Critical Extravasation's own compositions and I can say that these Russians play fairly solid and enjoyable death / thrash. There's a lot of influences from Death, Morgoth, Cynic, Sadus, sometimes they're broadened even to some heavy metal stuff (mainly in “Mental Prison”). Generally, Critical Extravasation did very fine work. Good musicianship, nice guitar and bass work especially, songs are not bad at all, if you dig this sort of more technical and melodic death / thrash metal, you should like it. The production is good also, so it all sounds good enough to give it few spins. I think that the only thing, which I didn't like at all were clean vocals in "Dismembered" - they suck and kind of ruin this song a little for me. Other than that, "Morbid Existence" is OK. And that Morgoth cover... awesome. Check it out.
Standout track: "Body Count"
Verdict: 70/100
