ABUSIVENESS - Nad grobem ojców (REX DIABOLI / OLD TEMPLE - 7"EP 2010)
2010 was quite busy year for Abusiveness, who released three recordings within that one year. First, we had the excellent "Trioditis", which is their third full length album. And then two vinyl releases were unleashed: “Nowa Era” split 12” with Saltus and this fantastic 7”EP “Nad grobem ojców”, which was issued by Rex Diaboli and Old Temple Records. "Nad Grobem Ojców" (which translates to "At the Graves of the Fathers") was limited to 500 copies and I must say that both labels did an excellent job with this EP, as the packaging looks great, including poster and sticker. Pity only that the artwork looks a bit too dark, so we cannot see all the details on it. But the quality of the cover as well as the music are top notch.
"Nad Grobem Ojców" includes four songs. Two are on side A and I must say they're some of the most vicious and uncompromising Abusiveness songs ever! Of course, they also have some of those characteristic melodies the band uses frequently, with the unique vocals and the atmosphere of the music you could recognize Abusiveness immediately. But they’re very fast, aggressive, what gives a more powerful and vicious feel to the music. The title song will really make you devastate everything around, so damn fast it is (even that lightening guitar solo!) - its energy simply fills up the room. Side B’s first song called "Mogiła" on the other hand is much more epic, with acoustics, keyboards, etc; so with everything that would create dark, heathen atmosphere. That gave a good balance between the vicious side A and epic song from side B. But that’s not everything, side B and the whole EP is closed Sepultura's "Funeral Rites", which is played like an old black metal track from the mid 90's, at first I even had difficulties to recognize this song haha! But I think it sounds cool.
Verdict: 75/100
