UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN - Lucifer Poseidon Cthulhu (IRON BONEHEAD - EP 2013)
I was waiting for some new Unaussprechlichen
Kulten releases and finally one such came few weeks ago in form of this
excellent 7”EP titled “Lucifer Poseidon Cthulhu”. Let me tell you that all of
you, who listened to “People of the Monolith” or “Dwellers of the Deep / The
Madness from the Sea” and liked that feeling, when ten ton monolith was slowly
massacring your body then you just must also get this EP. It contains two Kulten
anthems and Pentagram cover and so the band continues with their Lovecraftian
stories and I must say that I love that atmosphere and the whole feeling, which
they have. It is something disturbing, obscure, mystique, terrifying, but also
intriguing, so it is always a pleasure to listen to such soundtracks for the
nameless cults.
First there’s “Madness From The Sea (Creatura
Aquæ part II)” on side A. It is a second part of Aquatic Testimony from the
“Blood Memory”… Musically one expect only the purest of death metal forms, if
it’s either slow or devastatingly fast, it will always be raw, obscure and
morbid traditional death metal. This song actually starts like the good old Morbid
Angel, but it also has a lot of influence from another mighty godz of US death
metal: Immolation, Incantation and Vital Remains. The whole music is so damn
heavy, so massive and destructive that you may truly expect that when listened
in the dark something horrid may come out to devour you. Great riffing, great
vocals and really excellent production – these are the main values of this Unaussprechlichen
Kulten release. And obviously the second song, which is a ritual hymn “Nephren
Ka-Nyarlathotep (Starry Wisdom)” is equally effective, again with some very
obvious Morbid Angel and Immolation influences here and there, but I really
enjoyed this music a lot. Finishing off with Chile’s Pentagram cover –
“Demoniac Possession” from their demo / EP 1987 – it is just a complete
recording, one which you must add to your collection and cherish, as once more
this Chilean squadron of death proves to be a unique band. And just look at
that amazing artwork of this EP, along with just killer, utterly blasphemous
band photo… do you need anything more? I doubt that. Limited to 500 copies,
remember that, as this stuff is essential!!!!!!
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh
wgah'nagl fhtagn"!!!!!
Final rate: 90/100
